Article Icon 1University Regents Propose Banning DEI 

The University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents proposed policies that would ban diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and require institutional neutrality on social and political issues across its 26 public colleges and universities.

The policies prohibit ideological tests, diversity statements, and related requirements, emphasizing merit-based admissions and hiring decisions.

Starting in the 2025-2026 academic year, students will be required to study key American founding documents, including the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Federalist Papers.

The curriculum will also include the Georgia Constitution, the Gettysburg Address, the Emancipation Proclamation, and Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail.”

  Article Icon 1Rivian Receives $6.6 Billion Loan to Build Factory 

The U.S. Department of Energy announced a $6.6 billion loan to Rivian Automotive to revive its stalled plans for a $5 billion electric vehicle factory near Atlanta.

The loan is part of the Biden administration’s effort to expand electric vehicle production, supporting Rivian’s manufacturing scale-up after earlier delays paused construction and shifted initial production to Illinois.

Gov. Brian Kemp expressed continued support for the project, which has received $1.5 billion in state and local incentives and significant site preparation investments.

Set to produce the R2 and R3 models starting in 2028, the Rivian factory is projected to employ 7,500 workers and produce up to 400,000 vehicles annually.

The Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Law Enforcement Division collaborated with Arkansas authorities to break up an interstate horse theft operation, leading to the identification and arrest of suspects in Georgia.

The investigation revealed a sophisticated scheme involving fraudulent financial transactions and false representation to unlawfully obtain multiple horses from Arkansas victims, with the stolen horses ultimately being sold in a third state.

An estimated 40,000 horses are reported stolen annually across the United States, with recent similar crimes reported throughout the Southeast, including Florida, Mississippi, and Texas.
