Article Icon 1Walmart Distribution Center Breaks Ground

Walmart broke ground on a $1.3 billion fulfillment center in Carnesville, expected to create about 1,000 jobs in rural Franklin County.

The 1.5 million-square-foot automated facility will be Walmart’s sixth next-generation distribution center and will expand same-day and next-day delivery options.

Gov. Brian Kemp said the jobs will let residents work close to home instead of commuting to a larger city.

Across Georgia, the retailer employs more than 65,300 people at 209 Walmart stores and Sam’s Clubs, plus 11 supply chain facilities.

Article Icon 1Faster Election Results Pledged

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger promised Georgians election results before midnight on Tuesday, saying the long delays after the 2020 vote are over.

State law now requires counties to report qualifying early and absentee results within an hour of polls closing. His office also plans risk-limiting audits for every congressional and statewide race.

Election management, security, and the rollout of Georgia’s next voting system are key issues in the race to succeed Raffensperger, who unsuccessfully ran for governor this year.

Republican state Rep. Tim Fleming, a former deputy secretary of state, faces Democrat Penny Brown Reynolds, a former Fulton County judge.

Article Icon 1UPS and Delta Bullish on Holiday Season

Atlanta-based UPS expects a strong holiday shipping season, with CEO Carol Tomé saying industry forecasts call for holiday online sales to rise about 9% over last year.

Atlanta-based Delta also expects strong holiday demand despite higher fares. Travel site Hopper says Thanksgiving tickets are averaging about $400, up 31% from last year.

UPS said about 100 big customers drive most of its seasonal surge, and those companies expect their daily volume to jump about 25% from the third quarter.

UPS plans to hire 100,000 seasonal workers, down from 110,000 last year, with nearly 70% of its packages now moving through automated facilities.

That scam call wasn’t random.

Scammers don’t just guess your number. They buy personal information from data brokers—companies selling your phone number, home address, relatives’ info, and more online.

That’s how a random scam call can turn into phishing, impersonation, identity theft—or someone knowing more about you than they should.

That’s why we recommend Incogni. It removes your personal information from these databases and keeps removing it automatically.
