Delta, Other Airlines Lower Outlook

Delta’s stock sank after the Atlanta-based airline cut its profit forecast due to weaker consumer and business demand.

Along with Delta, three other major airlines cut their outlooks, citing travelers’ uncertainty over the economy and airline safety concerns.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian said the recent series of U.S. airline crashes and mechanical issues “somewhat exacerbated the impact on us.”

Southwest Airlines was among those that lowered its outlook. Earlier this year, the Dallas-based company reported it is reducing jobs in Atlanta.

  Congressman Applauds Mural Removal 

U.S. Rep. Andrew Clyde, R-Athens, who led the push for the removal of the Black Lives Matter street mural in Washington, D.C., said he was glad the work was underway.

“It was very divisive. It’s right in front of the White House and it’s kind of an in-your-face to the President and so it needed to go away,” Clyde said after crews on Monday began removing the mural and dismantling the adjacent BLM Plaza.

On March 3, Clyde introduced legislation demanding that Washington, D.C., remove the painting or risk losing federal funding. The proposal drew widespread GOP support.

Best Soccer Bar in America 

The Brewhouse Cafe in Atlanta’s Little Five Points neighborhood has been voted the best soccer bar in America out of hundreds of pubs nominated across the country.

Soccer-focused media company Men in Blazers ran the competition. The company announced that it will be hosting a live podcast at the pub on March 25. Tickets are already sold out.

Open since 1997, The Brewhouse Cafe has been a mainstay of Atlanta’s soccer culture, and its current owner was a longtime patron.

Last year, Atlanta United hosted a live podcast at the bar to celebrate its 10th anniversary in the MLS.
