Fall Weather Around Corner

Georgians enduring another stretch of 90-degree-plus heat are asking when fall relief will arrive, and forecasters say the answer is soon.

Atlanta, Savannah, and other hot spots will see high temperatures start to drop below 90 degrees over the next two weeks, they predict.

In Central Georgia, meteorologists note that the region’s highs typically drop from around 90 degrees at the start of September to about 84 degrees by month’s end. Low temperatures fall from around 69 to near 60 degrees.

Those planning trips to see the fall colors can track statewide conditions here, with current projections showing colors peaking in late October in the mountains and in November elsewhere.

  Foundry School Targets Skills Gap

The Foundry School initiative announced last week will enlist Georgia Tech and seven other universities to help rebuild American advanced manufacturing, the State Department said.

Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio launched the program Thursday in Washington. The initiative will include 17 sessions across participating campuses, taught by founders and CEOs of advanced manufacturers.

Stanford, Arizona State, Ohio State, Penn State, Vanderbilt, Washington University in St. Louis, and the University of Kansas round out the eight participating universities nationwide.

Program organizers cited a study that projects manufacturers will need 3.8 million skilled workers by 2033.
