Article Icon 1Jurors Hear Father’s Police Interviews

Jurors in Barrow County were presented tapes of police interviews with the father of the accused Apalachee High School shooter, who told investigators he was unaware of his son’s alleged intentions before the shootings.

Colin Gray faces 29 felony counts for allowing his son to possess a rifle while allegedly knowing the teen suffered from anxiety and had displayed a photo of the Parkland school shooter in his bedroom.

A Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent testified about a text message the son sent his father before the shooting, saying, “I’m sorry, it’s not your fault,” but he gave no details as to his alleged plan.

A Barrow County Sheriff’s Office investigator who interviewed Gray said the father was arrested in part because of alleged inconsistencies in his statements, including about where firearms were kept.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security purchased an Oakwood building to convert into an immigration enforcement detention center, the second proposed center in the state.

In addition to aiding in illegal immigration processing and deportations, the Oakwood center would create an estimated 1,520 jobs and $34.3 million in tax revenue for the community, federal officials said.

The project and another center proposed for a building in Social Circle are part of a nationwide plan to consolidate about 300 Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities into eight mega centers and about 26 other facilities, funded by the federal One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

The proposed site in Social Circle would become one of the mega centers and house between 7,500 and 10,000 detainees. Some local officials in Social Circle raised questions about whether the city’s infrastructure could support the project.

Georgia’s tree pollen season is underway.

Allergists recommend starting nasal sprays and antihistamines before symptoms worsen. They also advise keeping windows closed during high-count days.

Elm, juniper, alder, and maple trees are the primary culprits in the early season. The peak period typically arrives between late March and mid-April, when oak and birch pollen drive counts into the thousands.

Silver’s Rise Can Make or Break Your Retirement

It has surged over 300% over the past 12 months.  It’s crucial to the AI revolution, but demand is far outstripping supply. It has become a go-to safe haven asset for global institutions, Wall Street investors, and everyday Americans as the economy becomes more unhinged. And before this current run-up, almost no one gave it a second thought.

Physical silver is quickly becoming the #1 commodity in the world. And now is your chance to benefit from it!

Retirement savings like 401(k)s and pension plans are growing increasingly vulnerable. A bursting stock bubble, a collapsing dollar, or one conflict halfway around the world can send your funds’ value plummeting.

You can protect that value with physical silver. Thanks to an IRS loophole, you can legally transfer the value of your 401(k), TSP, Pension, or IRA into physical silver and gold.

Silver is unique among commodities, with soaring demand from investors and industry. And its 6-year supply deficit gives price a solid floor and no ceiling. Bank of America said silver could break $300 this year. Don’t miss this opportunity to fortify your finances with vital physical assets.
