Article Icon 1Airport Begins Ebola Screening

The CDC expanded mandatory Ebola public health screening to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, one of three U.S. airports designated to process travelers arriving from Ebola-affected regions of Africa.

Officials stress that the risk to the general public remains low and the screenings are a precautionary public health measure.

The screening comes amid a fast-moving Ebola outbreak across the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan.

American travelers returning from those three countries within the past 21 days will be routed into Hartsfield-Jackson, Washington Dulles, or Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport for health screening. The process includes interviews with CDC officers, temperature checks, and self-monitoring instructions.
