A McCaysville police captain remains in critical condition after being shot in the throat Friday night while responding to a 911 call.

Capt. Brantley Worley, a 15-year law enforcement veteran, suffered a broken neck, brain bleeding, and lung damage and was airlifted to a Chattanooga hospital.

The suspect, 26-year-old Timothy Craig Ramsey, is described as violent and well-known to police. He was captured Saturday evening after a statewide Blue Alert helped locate him in a multi-agency manhunt

Georgia Tech stunned No. 12 Clemson 24–21 on Saturday with a 55-yard walk-off field goal by Aidan Birr. Haynes King returned from injury to throw for 216 yards and rush for 103 more, snapping a nine-game losing streak to Clemson.

The Yellow Jackets drove the field in the final three minutes, capping the upset as fans stormed the field and tore down the goalposts. It was Georgia Tech’s 11th win as an underdog since 2022, the most in CFB.

Up in Knoxville, No. 6 Georgia rallied to beat No. 15 Tennessee 44–41 in overtime. Gunner Stockton led the comeback with 304 passing yards, with the Bulldogs sealing it with a one-yard score in OT.

Federal prosecutors have charged the founder and seven leaders of a Georgia-based church with defrauding military members of more than $22 million.

The House of Prayer Christian Churches of America allegedly ran sham seminaries for G.I. Bill benefits.

Founder Rony Denis was arrested near Augusta. The church, headquartered in Hinesville near Fort Stewart, targeted soldiers and veterans across five states. Prosecutors have called it a long-running scheme built on abuse of faith.
