Article Icon 1Judge to Dismiss ‘Cop City’ RICO Charges

A  judge said Tuesday he plans to dismiss racketeering charges tied to the 2023 Cop City protests, which targeted the construction of Atlanta’s public safety training center.

Fulton County Judge Kevin Farmer said state Attorney General Chris Carr lacked the legal authority to file the 2023 RICO indictments without Gov. Brian Kemp’s approval.

Farmer said he expects prosecutors will appeal his decision, and that he may still allow some domestic terrorism charges to proceed.

Madison was named the prettiest small town in the state by Southern Living.

The town of about 5,000 is renowned for its antebellum architecture and African American heritage sites such as the Rose Cottage.

Meanwhile, manager Brian Snitker stirred controversy by moving Ronald Acuña Jr. down in the batting order amid the All-Star’s ongoing slump.

With Snitker’s contract expiring and the team struggling, a change in managers may be coming in the offseason.

Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos said any coaching decisions will not be made until after the regular season.
