Article Icon 1Lawmaker Calls for ICE Surge

U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter called for more Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents across the state after a Savannah teacher was killed Feb. 16 in a crash involving an illegal immigrant fleeing a traffic stop.

Carter, R-St. Simons Island, said an estimated 500,000 illegal immigrants live in Georgia. “I’ve already called for more ICE agents to be in Atlanta, and now I’m calling for more ICE agents to be out throughout the state of Georgia,” he said.

The driver, arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide and driving without a license, is a Guatemalan national in the U.S. illegally under a 2024 removal order, federal authorities said.

The family of the teacher, Linda Davis, issued a statement praising her as “a devoted wife, mother, sister, colleague, friend, and teacher.”

  Article Icon 1Braves Launch BravesVision

The Atlanta Braves on Tuesday unveiled BravesVision, a team-owned broadcast network that will serve as the club’s local television home starting with the 2026 season.

BravesVision will produce and distribute more than 140 regular-season games through cable, satellite, and MLB’s Braves.TV without blackout restrictions.

Select games will also air free on Gray Media broadcast stations, and national games will continue on FOX/FS1, ESPN, TBS, NBC/Peacock, and Apple TV.

The move follows the team’s split with the operator of FanDuel Sports Network regional channels, which missed scheduled rights payments.

Article Icon 1Spring Forecast: Warm and Lingering Drought

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center updated its spring weather outlook, showing a potential for above-normal temperatures statewide.

NOAA’s rainfall expectation isn’t as clear-cut but foresees below-average moisture in South Georgia, one of the areas of the state experiencing extreme drought conditions.

For North Georgia, the forecast calls for a roughly equal chance of above, near, or below-normal precipitation from March through May.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac projects warmer-than-usual temperatures and dry conditions for Georgia and much of the Southeast this spring.
