Article Icon 1Voters Head to the Polls

It’s Election Day, with ballots featuring local races and measures and two seats on the state Public Service Commission.

Polls will stay open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Campaigning for the Public Service Commission races intensified in the final days, as Republicans and Democrats battled over energy policy and utility rates.

In metro Atlanta, mayoral and city council races could shape everything from crime policy to city budgets. Other communities across the state will also decide key local races and issues.

Article Icon 1 Frustrated Falcons Next Stop: Berlin

Atlanta Falcons players sought to move past the team’s frustrating loss to New England and a 3-5 record, turning their focus to their matchup against Indianapolis on Sunday in Berlin.

“We’ve got nine or 10 weeks left. We’ll see what happens and go to Germany and try and take care of business,” safety and team captain Jessie Bates III said.

On Sunday against New England, Falcons kicker Parker Romo missed a game-tying extra point with under 5 minutes left in the Patriots’ 24–23 home win.

Also late in the game, a premature snap derailed a Falcons drive. Atlanta coach Raheem Morris accused the Patriots of simulating a snap count with clapping.

Article Icon 1Sunny Stretch Ahead

Folks in north and central Georgia woke up to patchy fog Monday morning, but skies cleared with highs near 70 in much of the state.

A warming trend is expected through at least Friday, accompanied by sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 70s.

A chance for rain returns late Friday.
