Article Icon 1Georgia Power to Keep Rates Flat

Georgia Power agreed to freeze base electricity rates through 2027 under an agreement with state utility regulators, scrapping a planned increase this year.

The agreement delays the utility’s storm recovery costs from Hurricane Helene until 2026 and extends the current rate structure.

Critics argued the behind-closed-doors deal lacked transparency, while Georgia Public Service Commission leaders say the move helps customers following years of rate hikes.

Authorities confirmed the body recovered Friday from Lake Lanier is Dustin Valencia, 43, of Cumming, who went missing last week after failing to pick up his children from school.

Friends said Valencia was in excellent shape and training for a triathlon. Public safety officials urged lakegoers to wear lifejackets, even those who are strong swimmers.

Last week, Valencia’s car, flip-flops, and kayak bag were found at Little Ridge Park, and his kayak and paddle were recovered in a nearby cove.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said the case remains under investigation.

Article Icon 1 Sunshine Forecast for Holiday Weekend

Following another round of potentially severe storms expected tonight, Georgia is set for a mostly dry and warm Memorial Day weekend with highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s across much of the state.

Cities like Athens, Augusta, and Savannah can expect partly cloudy skies with low rain chances through Memorial Day on Monday, making for good lake and grill-out weather.

Storms could return late in the weekend, but the forecast looks favorable for celebrating the holiday outdoors.

Zillow’s Co-Founder Has a Big New Idea

Spencer Rascoff co-founded Zillow, scaling it into a $16B real estate giant. But everyday investors couldn’t invest until after the IPO, missing potential early gains.

“I wish we had done a round accessible to retail investors prior to Zillow’s IPO,” Spencer later said.

Now he’s doing just that. Spencer has teamed up with Austin Allison, another Zillow exec, to launch Pacaso. Pacaso’s co-ownership marketplace is disrupting the $1.3T vacation home market. And unlike Zillow, you can invest in Pacaso as a private company.

With $110M+ in gross profits and rapid international expansion, Pacaso is scaling fast. Investors like Softbank, Maveron, and more are already on board. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.

But you don’t have to wait. Join them as a Pacaso shareholder for just $2.80/share by 5/29.
