Teen Mourned by Racing, Rodeo Communities

Last week’s death of 17-year-old Jackson Cole Croft of Woodstock has shaken Georgia’s car racing and rodeo circles, with many offering condolences to the family after the teen’s suspected drowning in a boating accident.

Croft was the son of Super Late Model driver Jason Croft, whose family “has been a huge part of Dixie Speedway’s history and dear friends for many years,” said Mia Green, vice president of the Woodstock racetrack.

Jackson Croft recently began dirt track racing and was also active in Georgia’s rodeo community. RockN’5L Rodeo Company in Cedartown plans to host a tribute event for him on Saturday.

Measles Cases Confined to Family

State health officials reported that Georgia’s fifth measles case of the year involves an unvaccinated metro Atlanta resident infected by a family member who caught the virus abroad in May.

No other new cases have been reported in the state outside of the two family members, health officials said. The family members are receiving vaccines or antibodies and are being monitored.

There were six measles cases in Georgia in 2024.
