Soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart arrived in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, eager to participate in the U.S. Army’s 250th Birthday Parade on Saturday.

“We are honored to participate in such a historical ceremony that will honor the sacrifices, achievements, and true spirit of American warriors through three distinct categories: Heroes, Legacy & Nostalgia!” the division posted.

The parade, part of a week-long celebration, will start at 6:30 p.m. EDT Saturday, with various broadcast and streaming channels airing live coverage.

The event follows a somber spring for the division, after four of its soldiers died during a training accident in March in Lithuania.

Federal agents seized 97 kilograms of fentanyl—a Georgia record, and enough to kill about 48 million people—in a bust tied to a 47-year-old Atlanta man.

Bartholomew Keeton Harralson faces at least 40 years in prison on drug and gun charges, and more arrests are expected, authorities said.

Raids at homes in Atlanta, South Fulton, and Douglasville uncovered pill presses, hundreds of thousands of pills, and 30 guns, with the operation able to produce 25,000 pills an hour, authorities said.

Article Icon 1Judge Disqualifies PSC Candidate

A judge ruled that Daniel Blackman is ineligible to run for the state Public Service Commission, saying Blackman failed to prove he lived in Fulton County for a full year.

The decision by Fulton County Judge Ural Glanville upholds Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s previous disqualification of Blackman.

Votes for Blackman, a Democrat, won’t be counted in the upcoming primary election unless he wins an appeal. Three other Democrats remain in the race to challenge Republican incumbent Fitz Johnson.
