  Article Icon 1Amazon Drones Coming

Amazon plans to launch Prime Air drone delivery in metro Atlanta, part of a national expansion the company announced Wednesday.

The drones will fly within about 7 miles of an Amazon center in Stone Mountain, an area that extends to parts of Snellville, Lilburn, Tucker, Lithonia and Redan. The drones can carry items weighing 5 pounds or less, with orders arriving within an hour.

In May, Amazon confirmed ongoing talks to begin drone deliveries, following the lead of Walmart and Alphabet’s Wing. The company detailed its plans at a recent meeting in Snellville.

Amazon said its nationwide expansion will bring its drone delivery service to about 500 cities and towns by year’s end, a sixfold increase over its current footprint.

Article Icon 1Georgian Will Judge Westminster Dog Show

Dana Cline, an Albany dog-show veteran, has been selected to judge the Working Group at the 151st Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show from Jan. 30 through Feb. 2 in New York.

Group judges pick the finalists who compete for Best in Show, making the assignment one of the sport’s most visible honors.

It will be Cline’s sixth time judging at Westminster. He last judged the Hound Group in 2005.

His passion for purebred dogs began in the 1970s when he exhibited his first dog, a Great Dane. Since then, he has built a career as a breeder, exhibitor, and American Kennel Club all-breed judge.
