New Measles Cases Reported

The Georgia Department of Public Health has confirmed three new measles cases in the state.

The three cases are linked to a measles case in a Fulton County resident, whose case was confirmed on Sept. 11. All three individuals had close contact with that patient.

Ten confirmed measles cases have now been reported in Georgia in 2025. Over 1,500 measles cases have been confirmed nationwide this year, the most since 1992.

Atlanta Airport Loses Federal Funding

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has forfeited over $37 million in federal funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) after refusing to accept new terms tied to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs.

The dispute stems from new federal mandates, which require federal grant recipients to certify that they do not operate DEI programs that could conflict with federal anti-discrimination law, in order to qualify for funding.

The forfeited funds were intended for restroom renovations, taxiway repairs, and a safety project for the north airfield.

“We are confident that the airport will be able to pursue alternative funding to advance these projects without impacting customers or airport service providers,” the City of Atlanta said. “The City is currently evaluating all options to ensure alignment with our long-held values, local policy, and federal law.”

Georgia Breaks Tourism Records Again

Georgia has broken tourism records for the third consecutive year, Gov. Brian Kemp announced on Friday.

Over 174 million people visited the state in 2024, generating over $82 billion in economic impact, a 3% increase from 2023.

Georgia has now ranked No. 5 in the U.S. for overnight visitation for five years straight.

“Georgia’s scenic landscapes, cultural attractions, and vibrant communities make our state a top destination,” Kemp said.
