Residents in northern Georgia were impacted when a 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Greenback, Tennessee, approximately 125 miles north of Atlanta, on Saturday morning.

The tremors from the earthquake reached parts of north Georgia and metro Atlanta. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) received over 23,000 public reports within the first hour following the 12-mile-deep quake.

No injuries or major damage have been reported.

Earthquakes in the eastern U.S. can be felt over greater distances due to the area’s geological characteristics. While aftershocks are possible for this natural disaster, they are unlikely to be felt in areas like Atlanta.

A day after Rep. Buddy Carter became the first Republican to enter the 2026 U.S. Senate race, U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene shared on social media that she will not run for U.S. Senate against Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff.

The Georgia congresswoman’s announcement came the same week that Gov. Brian Kemp had also decided against a Senate run.

In her statement, Greene expressed frustration with the Senate’s structure, “It’s designed to obstruct the will of the people and protect the Uniparty’s grip on power.

While Greene has ruled out a Senate bid, she has not dismissed the possibility of running for governor next year.

The University of Georgia baseball team is having an impressive 2025 season, solidifying their status as a national powerhouse under second-year head coach Wes Johnson.

The Bulldogs grabbed the top spot in Baseball America’s College Baseball Top 25 rankings earlier this week. They have won seven straight games.

Georgia’s recent run is fueled by a potent offense and a dominant pitching staff. The offense is highlighted by Ryland Zaborowski, who leads the team with a .372 batting average. On the mound, ace Nate Taylor boasts a 1.50 ERA.

After falling short of the College World Series last year, the Bulldogs are determined to make a deep postseason run in 2025.
