The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) enacted a telework policy for Chamblee campus employees as it addresses an ongoing rat infestation at the facility.

The pest problem, which intensified following Memorial Day weekend, caused one worker to quit.

The decision comes after a protest by union representatives, current workers, and former employees, as well as calls from Georgia lawmakers for the IRS to close the office and allow staff to work remotely.

The IRS recognizes that this situation creates an uncomfortable work environment for our staff. The IRS, along with GSA, is working to remediate the situation as quickly as possible,” the IRS said in a statement.
