Article Icon 1Cyberattack on SNAP Under Investigation

Georgia officials have temporarily shut down the state’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) call center over the weekend for an investigation following a recent cyberattack.

The attack targeted the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system operated by Conduent, a third-party contractor. A flood of automated bot calls disrupted service and attempted to gain unauthorized access to user accounts.

The Georgia Department of Human Services is urging all SNAP participants to immediately change their PINs and take advantage of the card-locking features available through ConnectEBT.

It has not been confirmed if any personal information was compromised.

Connie Taylor, the Cobb County Superior Court Clerk, was indicted Thursday on two counts of destruction of public records and two counts of violating her oath of office.

Taylor is accused of directing an employee to delete records linked to the fees from the county’s passport services, as well as an email titled “Expedited Passport Revenue Analysis 2021-2022.”

Earlier this year, Taylor agreed to repay nearly $84,000 after it was discovered that she pocketed over $400,000 in passport shipping fees meant for county use.

Taylor was first elected in 2020 and reelected in November 2024.

Former Food Network star Paula Deen has permanently closed her iconic Savannah restaurant, The Lady & Sons, on Thursday, marking the end of nearly 36 years of operation.

A nearby takeout location, The Chicken Box, was also closed; no reason has yet been provided for why both restaurants abruptly shut down.

Deen’s four other restaurants, located in Tennessee, South Carolina, and Missouri, will remain open.

“Thank you for all the great memories and for your loyalty over the past 36 years. We have endless love and gratitude for every customer who has walked through our doors,” Deen said in a statement.
