Article Icon 1Drug Trafficker Sentenced after 4th Offense

Mekael Desean Daniels was sentenced to over 24 years in federal prison earlier this week after authorities discovered nearly 250 pounds of cocaine, $600,000, and 62 grams of fentanyl in his Buckhead stash house.

Daniels pleaded guilty in March to conspiracy to possess cocaine and fentanyl with intent to distribute. This conviction marks his fourth drug trafficking offense.

The case is part of “Operation Take Back America,” an initiative established earlier this year by the Department of Justice that’s designed to combat drug and human trafficking, illegal immigration, and transnational criminal organizations.

“Let this case serve as a clear warning: drug traffickers can no longer operate with impunity,” states Jae W. Chung, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Atlanta Division.

A student at Meadowcreek Elementary School in Gwinnett County is being accused of bringing a firearm to school and discharging it in a restroom toilet before classes began on Aug. 14; no injuries were reported.

Initially, school administrators were alerted to a broken toilet and a student admitted to intentionally damaging it. However, further investigation revealed that the same student had damaged the toilet with a gun that was brought from home.

The student was arrested and faces criminal charges. Authorities are also examining whether the student’s parents will face charges.

Rapper Snoop Dogg is expanding his hemp-infused beverage line, Iconic Tonics, into Georgia, Tennessee, and New Jersey.

The two products being introduced are “Do It Fluid,” a flavorful drink, and “Doggy Spritz,” a seltzer.

The expansion adds to a flourishing cannabis beverage market, which is expected to grow from $3 billion in 2024 to $117 billion by 2032.

“I’ve rocked with artists from all three [states], been inspired by the sounds, and now I’m bringing my energy there with Do It Fluid and Doggy Spritz. Good music, good people, and now, good drinks,” the rapper said.
