Article Icon 1MARTA CEO Steps Down

Collie Greenwood, a Canadian citizen who is CEO and General Manager of MARTA, has resigned due to personal matters and complications with his immigration status, following the expiration of his work permit on June 18. He has opted for early retirement while awaiting his Green Card.

“Mr. Greenwood’s Canadian visa is valid, and he remains in this country legally awaiting imminent delivery of his Green Card,” MARTA said in a statement.

MARTA’s board will pay out the remainder of his contract, with Chief Customer Experience Officer Rhonda Allen named acting CEO.

His departure comes at a critical time for MARTA, which is preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and working to recover ridership post-pandemic amid a $2.7 billion transit expansion plan.

King’s Hawaiian will invest $54 million to expand its 150,000-square-foot Oakwood facility in Hall County, creating over 135 new jobs.

The expansion will bring a new production line to the facility, expected to begin operating in the second quarter of 2026, focused on producing additional flavors of King’s Hawaiian Pretzel Bites.

The decision marks the company’s sixth major expansion in Hall County since launching production there in 2010.

A SWAT operation in Rome resulted in three individuals being detained in connection with an investigation into explosive devices found at two locations in Floyd County earlier this week.

The arrests stem from two separate and unrelated explosive-related responses that occurred in Floyd County this week.

On Tuesday, while searching a business on Hull Avenue for a stolen vehicle, Rome police instead discovered explosive materials.

The next day, authorities discovered a stockpile of homemade explosive devices at a Rome man’s residence, leading to a controlled detonation by a bomb squad.
