Article Icon 1DeKalb County Schools at Risk of Closure

The DeKalb County School District is considering a major restructuring plan that could lead to the closure or repurposing of 27 schools over the next six to eight years as part of efforts to maximize resources and better align facilities with declining enrollment.

Currently, there are 18,000 empty seats across the district’s 138 schools.

Nearly all of the institutions that could potentially close are elementary schools.

The district is anticipated to vote on a final plan this fall.

  Article Icon 1MARTA Launching First Bus Rapid Transit Line

Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority’s (MARTA) first bus rapid transit line, the Rapid A‑Line, will begin service with its first phase on April 18.

The launch will be part of MARTA’s NextGen Bus Network, a major redesign plan aimed at improving the city’s bus system.

The project, initially scheduled for completion last year, was delayed in April 2025 due to construction issues.

The second phase is scheduled for this fall.

Kennesaw State University (KSU) announced that it will launch a new Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence in Fall 2026.

The college becomes the first in the state to provide both bachelor’s and graduate degrees in artificial intelligence.

The program will be offered on KSU’s Marietta campus and online.

“With AI driving innovation across industries including healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, public safety, and business services, our new degree is structured to help meet Georgia’s expanding need for a highly skilled workforce,” said Ivan Pulinkala, KSU’s provost and executive vice president for academic affairs.
