Atlanta’s District Court Judge, Victoria Calvert, is set to rule by the end of April on a lawsuit filed by 133 international college students who allege that the Trump administration unlawfully revoked their ability to study in America.

In recent weeks, more than 1,200 international students across the U.S. are facing similar challenges to their student eligibility, including 26 from Georgia institutions.

Federal judges across several states have issued temporary restraining orders to restore impacted international students’ visas.

Last week, Calvert issued a 14-day temporary restraining order that allows the students to keep studying until at least May 1.

Fulton County leaders say they’re anticipating the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Atlanta will generate an economic impact of $1 billion.

That revenue will help offset expenses expected to reach millions to prepare for the event.

“The 2026 World Cup matches will not just be a boom for Atlanta, this is going to be a win for our entire region,” stated Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens.

Atlanta will host seven regular matches as well as one semifinal. The tournament is scheduled to begin on June 15, 2026.

Tiffany Brown, 43, was sentenced to 12 years in prison and ordered to pay more than $1.7 million in restitution after defrauding FEMA on a $156 million contract to help with Hurricane Maria relief in Puerto Rico.

The agency gave Brown a $156 million contract to provide 30 million self-heating meals to impacted Puerto Ricans; she only delivered 50,000 meals.

Brown was charged in September by a federal grand jury on 11 counts of major disaster fraud, 14 counts of wire fraud, three counts of money laundering, and one count of theft of government money.
