Article Icon 1 More Raid Details Emerge; Workers to Leave

South Korea agreed to bring home the more than 300 South Korean workers detained in last week’s immigration raid at a Hyundai construction site in Ellabell.

The raid followed a months-long investigation among federal and state agencies, and some of the workers were found hiding in a sewage pond, authorities said.

A video released by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement shows scenes from the raid.

The South Korean workers were among about 475 suspected illegal immigrants who were detained. The Mexican consulate said 23 of them were from Mexico.

The Atlanta Falcons lost a heartbreaker at home on Sunday, falling 23-20 to Tampa Bay after giving up a late touchdown and missing a game-tying field goal with seconds left.

Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. showed promise in his first opening-game start, with a four-yard run for a go-ahead score among the highlights.

Penix hit Bijan Robinson for a 50-yard touchdown early and threw for 298 yards.

Atlanta’s next game is a Sunday night matchup against the Minnesota Vikings in Minnesota.

Article Icon 1Wins Follow Weather Delays

Severe weather caused delays at the Georgia Tech and Georgia football games Saturday, with lightning and rain forcing fans to seek shelter.

Georgia Tech’s home opener against Gardner-Webb kicked off around 4:05 p.m., after storms passed through Atlanta.

Meanwhile, the Georgia vs. Austin Peay game in Athens was paused at halftime for nearly two hours due to lightning, despite the game time being changed in hopes of avoiding storms.

Georgia won 28-6, while Georgia Tech shook off a slow start to win 59-12.
