Article Icon 1Dem Voter Groups to Disband

The New Georgia Project and its affiliated Action Fund, once key players in boosting Democratic turnout in Georgia, are shutting down.

Founded in 2013 by Stacey Abrams and overseen by Raphael Warnock from 2017 to 2019, ahead of his successful run for U.S. Senate, the New Georgia Project registered tens of thousands of voters.

In January, the state ethics commission levied a $300,000 fine against the groups over their work on behalf of Abrams in her failed 2018 race for governor.

The groups’ closures raise questions about the strength of Democratic organizing in Georgia going forward, political analysts say.

Georgia climbed to No. 5 and Georgia Tech jumped to No. 7 in the latest AP Top 25 college football poll after key weekend wins.

On Saturday, Georgia Tech moved to 7-0 for the first time since 1966 with a gritty road victory over Duke. Georgia rallied late at home to beat Ole Miss 43–35.

Georgia Tech’s ranking is its highest since 2009, while Georgia extended its streak of appearances in the poll to 140, second only to Alabama.

The teams will play each other on Nov. 28 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Georgians can expect a warmer, drier winter, according to the winter outlook released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Across the state, drought conditions are likely to persist.

In southeast Georgia, an extremely dry winter is possible, as La Niña conditions impact weather across the southern U.S., the agency said.

On Sunday, metro Atlanta received a brief rain from a system that will keep conditions cool in the days ahead, including overnight temperatures in the 40s.

Unknown Number Calling? It’s Not Random

The BBC caught scam call center workers on hidden cameras as they laughed at the people they were tricking. One worker bragged about making $250k from victims. The disturbing truth? Scammers don’t pick phone numbers at random. They buy your data from brokers.

Once your data is out there, it’s not just calls. It’s phishing, impersonation, and identity theft. That’s why we recommend Incogni: They delete your info from the web, monitor for new threats, and keep erasing your data as new risks appear.
