Article Icon 1Masters Week Arrives

The 90th Masters Tournament begins Thursday at Augusta National, with world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler as the betting favorite.

For the Augusta community, tournament week gives residents a chance to celebrate and show off their Southern hospitality, with one past visitor noting, “The entire city seemed to come alive.”

Some downtown businesses call Masters Week the 13th month of the year, a period when tourists flood the city and spending triples compared to a typical month.

Practice rounds begin today. The projected field of 92 players includes nearly two dozen making their Masters debut. You can find information about TV coverage and more tournament details here.

Article Icon 1 Hurricane Outlook Toned Down

AccuWeather’s first 2026 Atlantic hurricane season outlook projects fewer-than-usual hits on the U.S., with Georgia’s coast at near-average risk.

Hurricane season officially starts June 1. AccuWeather’s early forecast comes after last season’s absence of any hurricanes making landfall in the U.S. for the first time in a decade.

This year, forecasters predict that three to five storms will make a direct impact on the U.S., with the northern Gulf Coast and the Carolinas as the highest-risk zones.

Ahead of the season, the National Hurricane Center updated its hurricane forecast cone graphics to include inland warnings.
