Rory McIlroy captured his elusive Green Jacket in the final round of the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club on Sunday, defeating Justin Rose in a playoff.

In his 11th attempt at the career grand slam and 17th trip to Augusta, McIlroy blew a lead on the second nine when he made a double bogey on the 13th hole. He missed a short putt to win on the 72nd hole before making a birdie on the first hole of the playoff.

McIlroy became the sixth player to win the career grand slam.

Murderer Kathan Guzman was arrested in Ocoee, Florida, nearly two weeks after Clayton County jail staff mistakenly released him, citing a paperwork error.

Guzman, 22, is serving a life sentence for the 2022 strangling of his 19-year-old girlfriend. Guzman’s mother said she and her son thought he was lawfully released.

The jail released Guzman due to what officials called a coding error. A multistate manhunt ensued, with the victim’s mother expressing her fear that she was a “sitting duck.”

Former Public Service Commission candidate Patty Durand launched Georgia Utility Watch to monitor Georgia Power and state utility regulators.

The nonprofit group seeks to serve a role similar to the state’s former Consumers Utility Counsel, representing the interests of residential and small business ratepayers.

“We’re an organization dedicated to protecting Georgia consumers with fair rates, transparent practices, and accountable leadership,” Durand said.
