Article Icon 1Mother Tells Lawmakers of AI Risks

A mother testified before a state Senate panel that an artificial intelligence-aided chatbot encouraged her late 14-year-old son’s suicide and that she’s now suing the developer.

The chatbot engaged in conversations using a familiar TV character’s voice, lacked safeguards to protect her son or notify an adult, and “instead asked my son if he had a plan of how he might commit his suicide,” Megan Garcia said.

Her testimony came Wednesday during the latest meeting of the study committee on the Impact of Social Media and AI on Children and Platform Privacy Protection.

Lawmakers and experts say AI remains largely unregulated. The bipartisan committee plans to draft recommendations to improve online safety and hold AI developers accountable.

Article Icon 1 Judge Extends Trump Case Deadline

A Fulton County judge gave Georgia prosecutors another month to name a replacement for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in the 2020 election case of President Trump and 14 co-defendants.

The extension, shorter than the 90 days a selection committee requested, was opposed by some of the defendants’ attorneys. “Enough is enough,” said one defense attorney, noting that the case started more than two years ago.

The judge initially gave the group until the middle of this month to name a replacement for Willis, who was disqualified from the case. Trump has called the case “a rigged case to start off with.”

Article Icon 1Fisk Celebrates First PGA Win

Former Georgia Southern golfer Steven Fisk notched his first PGA Tour victory this past weekend, winning the Sanderson Farms Championship in Mississippi.

The 27-year-old Georgian birdied the final three holes to edge Garrick Higgo and cap off an emotional win just months after losing his father to cancer.

Fisk recalled growing up playing at his family’s par-3 Rum Creek course in Stockbridge. The greens “were really small and … truly, I think it made me into the iron player that I am today. It’s a special place, and it will always be cool that it led to this,” he said.

With the victory, Fisk won $1.1 million, secured his PGA Tour card through 2027, and guaranteed his spot in next year’s PGA Championship and The Players Championship.

More Than Seven Revenue Streams from One Business

Most companies chase one or two ways to make money. Surf Lakes has at least seven.

At the heart of it all is their patented 360° Wave Tech, which enables 2,000 surfable rides per hour for both beginners and pros. That single breakthrough unlocks multiple revenue streams: licensing fees, royalties, memberships, day passes, media, coaching, food, retail, and direct park operations.

Another key aspect of this technology is that it enables the development of up to half a mile of beachside property, adding exponential value to each project.

It’s why surfing legends Tom Curren and Mark “Occy” Occhilupo are proud and vocal ambassadors of Surf Lakes.

Actor Chris Hemsworth even said this after his Surf Lakes experience: “What an incredible setup! Really thankful I got to test this out… an awesome day.”

Surf tourism is a $65B global industry, yet fewer than 1% of people can access real waves. Surf Lakes makes it possible anywhere, turning cities into surf destinations.

They’ve already sold nine licenses worldwide, and the expansion is coming. Invest in Surf Lakes by Oct. 30 at 11:59 p.m. PT.
