Georgia ranked No. 7 in CNBC’s 2025 Top States for Business, falling from No. 4 last year.

States were judged on 135 metrics, with extra weight given to economic strength, business costs, and readiness for tech industries and advanced manufacturing.

Georgia ranked third in workforce and fourth in infrastructure, but saw declines in education and cost of living.

Georgia ranked 16th in U.S. gun sales last year, with nearly 421,000 firearms sold, a SafeHome study found.

Adjusted for population, Georgia’s rate of five guns sold per 100 adults ranked the lowest among Southern states. You can see a state-by-state chart here.

Nationally, Americans bought an estimated 16.1 million guns in 2024, with Texas, Florida, and California leading in gross sales. Adjusted for population, rural Western states such as Wyoming and Montana topped the list.

Total U.S. sales were down an estimated 3.4% from 2023, continuing a gradual decline since the pandemic surge in 2020, the study said.
