Pro-Data Center Group Forms

A new industry group launched a public relations campaign to promote the benefits of data centers amid opposition by some in the state.

Psychologist: School Shooter Paranoid

A forensic psychologist testified Monday at Apalachee High School shooter Colt Gray’s sentencing hearing that the teen had a chaotic, lonely childhood and was fixated on mass shootings.

Kevin Richards, who interviewed Gray for about 15 hours, said Gray was paranoid and obsessed with an online community about school shooters.

Gray, 16, pleaded guilty Friday to all 55 charges in the 2024 shooting that killed teachers Richard Aspinwall and Cristina Irimie and students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo.

Families of the victims urged life without parole, a decision resting solely with Judge Nicholas Primm.

Rising Star Wins Brickyard 400

Marietta native Corey Heim held off Christopher Bell and Joey Logano on Sunday to win NASCAR’s Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The 24-year-old Heim became the race’s youngest winner since Jeff Gordon’s 1994 win at age 23, and the first Cup Series driver since A.J. Foyt in 1965 to win twice in his first 15 career starts.

The Kennesaw Mountain High School graduate, who will move to a full-time NASCAR Cup Series ride next season, emerged as one of NASCAR’s top prospects while a teenager.

He earned his first Cup victory last month at San Diego. On Sunday, he made a daring outside move to pass team co-owner Denny Hamlin on the final restart, then beat Bell by 0.287 seconds.
