Traffic fatalities in the state were down this Thanksgiving travel period from a year ago, with 11 deaths compared to 17 last year, according to the state Department of Public Safety. More than 230 people were injured.

Troopers and local law enforcement responded to 498 crashes, including one in Lumpkin County that killed a 32-year-old man in a head-on collision.

Article Icon 1Greene’s Exit Stirs Interest

Candidates hoping to succeed U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene are starting to emerge, including Republicans and Democrats who echo her call for federal politicians to focus more on the economy and other kitchen table issues.

Meanwhile, Greene, R-Rome, continues to periodically comment on national issues, including urging national leaders to focus on domestic matters. “Fix health insurance. Not regime change in Venezuela,” she said in a social media post on Monday.

A date for a special election to fill Greene’s seat remains undetermined, with one local GOP chair saying the election could likely happen in March. Greene plans to leave office on Jan. 5.

Article Icon 1Falcons Fans Uneasy

After giving up another late lead, the Atlanta Falcons dropped to 4–8 on Sunday and saw their playoff hopes all but vanish—leaving fans frustrated.

Some fans want sweeping changes, pointing fingers at head coach Raheem Morris, offensive coordinator Zac Robinson, the special teams unit, and general manager Terry Fontenot.

After Sunday’s game, Morris said he will not be making any immediate changes in his coaching staff. Morris also praised veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins, saying, “He’s done a nice job of putting us in the position to win.”
