Transmission Line Plan Detailed

A plan to build a 36-mile electricity transmission line through Coweta, Fayette, Heard, and Fulton counties could displace some homes and require easements on several hundred properties.

Public meetings on Georgia Power’s plan took place last week at the Coweta County Fairgrounds.

Georgia Power cites growth in metro Atlanta’s southern edge as the reason for the project, with construction tentatively scheduled to begin in early 2027.

The utility pledged to negotiate with property owners in an effort to reach compensation agreements on easements and any land or property purchases, aiming to avoid the use of eminent domain.

  Tech’s Title Game Hopes Sink

Georgia Tech’s 42-28 loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday leaves the Yellow Jackets with only a remote chance to qualify for the ACC championship game or the College Football Playoff.

Now 9-2, the team remains in line for a higher-profile bowl game and next faces off against No. 4 Georgia on Friday. One of the nation’s premier rivalry games, last year’s matchup took eight overtimes to decide, with Georgia winning.

On Saturday, the Yellow Jackets rallied after falling behind 28–0, but a late interception for a touchdown by Pittsburgh ended the comeback. The team dropped eight places to No. 23 in the latest AP college football poll released Sunday.

Uncertain Path Remains for Bulldogs 

With one weekend left in college football’s regular season, No. 4 Georgia’s postseason path remains undetermined heading into its rivalry clash with No. 23 Georgia Tech on Friday.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs cruised past Charlotte 35–3, improving to 10–1 behind three touchdowns from freshman Bo Walker and a dominant ground game.

Georgia ranked No. 4 for a second week in the AP college football poll released on Sunday.

In the SEC, the Bulldogs are one of four teams battling for a spot in the conference title game. Texas A&M will secure one spot with a win, while Georgia, Alabama, and Ole Miss potentially face various tiebreakers.
