Article Icon 1Income Tax Talks Ongoing

The debate over a Republican proposal to eliminate the state income tax continues, with some lawmakers within the GOP uncertain about the idea.

A state Senate-led study committee, chaired by GOP state Sen. Blake Tillery, is developing a draft proposal, citing relief for taxpayers as well as other states’ elimination of the tax.

The study group’s final recommendations are expected by January.

Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, a Republican candidate for governor, said the elimination of the tax would enable Georgia to better compete with Florida and others without a state income tax.

Critics signaled their opposition to any corresponding hike in the state sales tax.

A fellow hiker reported seeing Dallas law professor Charles Hosch on the day of his disappearance, providing searchers with a possible lead.

Hosch, 67, is a Georgia native and Eagle Scout with deep ties to the area.

He went missing during a solo hike on Blood Mountain in North Georgia on Nov. 11. Searchers, including K-9 teams and drones, remain on the ground.

The hiker said he spoke with Hosch at the summit the day he went missing, leading rescuers to focus more on Hosch’s likely descent routes.

The Atlanta Hawks’ slow start to the season already appears a distant memory, with the team winning five straight before a loss to the 13-2 Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night.

The 9-6 Hawks jumped nine places to No. 10 in the latest USA Today NBA Power Rankings. They had won eight of their last 10 games entering Tuesday’s matchup.

The recent wins came despite the absence of star guard Trae Young, recovering from a knee injury. Young is expected to miss at least a few more games.

Unknown Number Calling? It’s Not Random.

The BBC caught scam call center workers on hidden cameras laughing at the people they were scamming. One even bragged about making $250K off victims. The disturbing truth? Scammers don’t dial numbers at random—they buy your data from brokers.

Once your info is out there, it’s not just annoying calls. It opens the door to phishing, impersonation, and even identity theft. That’s why we recommend Incogni. They delete your personal data from the web, follow up with data brokers automatically, and continue monitoring as new threats pop up.
