Article Icon 1More Election Case Charges Dropped

A Fulton County judge on Friday dismissed an additional three charges against President Trump and others in the 2020 election case, citing jurisdictional issues.

Judge Scott McAfee left other charges in place.

Trump attorney Steve Sadow called for an end to the case, saying, “This politically charged prosecution has to come to an end.”

The judge’s ruling came as Pete Skandalakis, head of the state’s Prosecuting Attorneys Council, appointed himself to take over from disqualified Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis after he was unable to find any other willing prosecutors.

Georgia rose to No. 4 in the AP college football poll and strengthened its bid for the College Football Playoff with its 35-10 win over Texas on Saturday.

One analyst gives the Bulldogs a 98.5% chance of making the playoffs, either with an at-large bid or by qualifying for and winning the SEC title game.

On Saturday in Athens, the Bulldogs pulled away late to beat Texas, led by a strong performance by quarterback Gunner Stockton and a rare onside kick.

“Our offense is like a big, strong anaconda, just squeezing you,” Smart said.

Georgia’s defense stifled quarterback Arch Manning and the rest of Texas’ offense in the Longhorns’ first-ever visit to Athens.

Georgia Tech moved a step closer to earning a spot in the ACC football title game following its 36-34 win against Boston College on Saturday.

The victory set the stage for a primetime showdown with Pitt at 7 p.m. Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta.

The Yellow Jackets also remain in the hunt for a College Football Playoff berth. They slipped one spot to No. 15 in the AP college football rankings released on Sunday.

In Saturday’s game, Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King racked up 425 total yards and a touchdown, while kicker Aidan Birr nailed a 23-yard game-winner with 11 seconds left.
