Article Icon 1State’s First Hard Freeze is Here

Freezing cold temperatures are forecast early this week across north and central Georgia, likely bringing the first hard freeze of the season.

After a weekend cold front and rain, highs on Monday will struggle to reach the 40s, with overnight lows dropping into the 20s early Tuesday. Veterans Day wind chills will make conditions feel even colder, leading to a brisk start for the morning commute.

Residents are urged to take the necessary precautions, protecting pipes, pets, and plants before the freeze sets in.

Article Icon 1Inmate Caught Running Drug Empire

A Georgia inmate serving life without parole has been convicted of running a multimillion-dollar drug and money laundering operation from his cell at Calhoun State Prison.

Jarvis Matthews, 46, used smuggled cellphones to direct the operation through his fiancée, two adult sons, girlfriends, and a nephew, who all helped move meth, heroin, and fentanyl across metro Atlanta.

The FBI began investigating Matthews in 2022 and, after undercover operations, wiretaps, and surveillance, brought the case to trial. Matthews now faces at least 25 more years in federal prison on top of his existing life sentence.

Carrington Manous, a high school senior and Miss Georgia’s Teen 2024, is using her platform to help kids with complex medical needs through advocacy, outreach, and hands-on service.

In October, she co-founded Able Path Care, an in-home pediatric nursing agency that provides specialized care for children with complex diagnoses—addressing a specific gap in Georgia’s healthcare system.

The state has an estimated 13,000 children with chronic conditions, more than 75% of whom come from low-income families, and half are cared for by a single mother or grandmother.

When our founder gave his dad, “Grandpa Jim,” a pair of Oricle hearing aids, nobody knew what to expect. For years, Jim had struggled to keep up with conversations—missing jokes, nodding along, and quietly withdrawing. But the moment he put them on, everything changed. Suddenly, voices were crisp, laughter rang out, and Jim was back in the middle of it all.

At one point, he even asked the family to “quiet down” because things were suddenly too clear. That moment stuck with us. For Jim, it wasn’t just about hearing better—it was about feeling present again. He loved them so much, he immediately asked for an extra pair, just in case.

Stories like this are why we’re proud to partner with Oricle. If you or someone you love has been waiting to take the step toward better hearing, now’s the time. Don’t miss out on life’s moments—see what Oricle can do for you today.
