Governor’s Office Warns on Food Stamps 

The partial federal government shutdown could soon impact food stamp programs, according to Georgia and Trump administration officials.

Gov. Brian Kemp’s office called on Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and other Senate Democrats to support a simple funding extension, with a spokesperson saying, “The impacts of the Schumer shutdown are becoming clearer for Georgians.”

The shutdown will not impact Georgia’s road and infrastructure work, federal funding for which comes from the previously approved Federal Highway Trust Fund, state officials said.

  More Details Emerge on Airport Threat

The arrest of Billy Joe Cagle of Cartersville came after relatives told police he allegedly livestreamed plans to shoot up Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

On Monday, officers detained the 49-year-old inside the airport’s South Terminal and recovered an AR‑15 and 27 rounds in his truck.

Records show Cagle has a nonviolent criminal history. Family members said Cagle was in a mental health crisis and “not in his right mind.”

Cagle is due in court today on charges that include terroristic threats and criminal attempt to commit aggravated assault. 

Hawks Tip Off at Home

The Atlanta Hawks open their NBA season at home tonight, with a retooled roster and rising pressure on All-Star guard Trae Young to prove he can lead a contender.
