Own The Flyover
From the Founder’s Desk:Why I Want Flyover Readers to Own The Georgia Flyover

When I decided to accept investors in The Georgia Flyover, one thing mattered to me more than anything: that our readers would have the chance to become our owners. If I had my druthers, every single investor in The Georgia Flyover would be a Georgia Flyover reader. That’s why we’ve structured this offering with you in mind:
  • 5% bonus shares for all Georgia Flyover readers who invest
  • An additional 5% and 10% bonus for those investing larger amounts
Legally, the offering is open to any U.S. citizen. But my heart—and our strategy—is focused on keeping ownership in the hands of our readers. Right now, we’re less than $350,000 away from hitting 50% of our ultimate funding goal—but our Q3 deadline for 50% raised has passed and we are behind.
That’s why I’m asking our readers one more time: will you consider investing in The Georgia Flyover today?
But some of our readers are asking: “How do I get a return on my investment?”
Here’s why The Georgia Flyover is different:
  • Already profitable after just two years (most startups never are)
  • 80% gross margins and 24% net income (exceptional margins)
  • In the top 1% of media start-ups (proven strength)
How investors could realize returns:
  1. A Sale – Only to a partner who shares our values. (CNN or the New York Times need not apply.)
  2. Public Listing – Shares traded openly on an exchange.
  3. Profit Distributions (Dividends) – Because we’re already profitable, this is possible.
Recap: Sale. Listing. Distributions.
My Closing Pitch

More than 1,450 Flyover readers have already joined us as investors. We’re just $350K away from our next milestone. If you’ve been considering investing, now is the moment. Let’s finish this round together and make The Georgia Flyover a news company truly owned by its readers.

Will you be one of the investors who help us keep The Georgia Flyover reader-owned?

Article Icon 1Additional Disaster Aid Detailed

An additional $531 million in disaster aid announced for Georgia this week will go to assist in areas not covered by traditional U.S. Department of Agriculture grants, officials said.

The funding will support areas such as timber, poultry, pecans, and specialty crops.

“It takes ten years for pecan trees to become profitable, and poultry investments are significant in the infrastructure you’ve got to build to be able to utilize that operation. With timber, it takes upwards of 20 to 25 years to get to that solid timber,” state Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J. Harper said.

The funding brings Georgia’s total federal disaster aid to more than $1 billion in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, officials said. Additionally, the state has made available more than $300 million in low-cost loans and other aid.

The USDA announced the awarding of the $531 million block grant on Tuesday. The funding is part of the $30 billion American Relief Act of 2025, signed into law under former President Biden.

Article Icon 1 Lawmakers Split Over Federal Shutdown

U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter, R-St. Simons Island, and other Republicans blamed Democrats for stalling a stopgap bill to prevent the partial federal government shutdown that began on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the state’s congressional Democrats held firm in their party’s demands for restoration of certain cuts in federal healthcare spending.

The shutdown is expected to impact some federal services deemed non-essential, but to what extent isn’t clear. Georgia Tech said programs tied to federal contracts may be affected depending on how long the impasse lasts.

Atlanta-based developer Pope & Land proposed an amusement center and mixed-use development for a 13-acre site off Poplar Road in Coweta County.

Details about any rides or other planned attractions were not reported.

The estimated $219 million project envisions two 175-room hotels, 340,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, and an amusement park by 2036, generating an estimated $8.7 million in annual tax revenue.

Last week, amusement center operator Herschend Family Entertainment announced the closing of its Malibu Norcross and Mountasia family fun centers in the Atlanta area.
