Article Icon 1State Tops Business Rankings Again

Area Development magazine named Georgia the No. 1 state for business for the 12th straight year.

Gov. Brian Kemp cheered the rankings as a “reflection of the sustained commitment we have to excellence.”

Georgia beat out South Carolina, Texas, North Carolina, and Ohio for the top spot. You can see the full rankings here.

The rankings, based on input from national site consultants, take into account 15 factors, including workforce, infrastructure, and tax policy, areas where Georgia consistently scored in the top tier.

Article Icon 1 Medicaid Work Program Extended

The federal government approved Georgia’s request to extend the state’s Pathways to Coverage program, which provides Medicaid coverage to low-income residents who meet qualifying work, education, or volunteering requirements.

Georgia launched the program and work requirements in 2023. The program was approved under the first Trump administration in 2019, but then held up by legal challenges during the Biden administration.

The Big Beautiful Bill passed by Congress in July requires states to restore work requirements for Medicaid by 2027, reversing the Biden administration’s 2021 decision to end them.

Gov. Brian Kemp thanked federal officials for extending the program, saying, “Other states are now looking to Georgia’s model as a path to follow.”

Article Icon 1Athens Set for Bulldogs-Tide Clash

No. 5 Georgia hosts No. 17 Alabama on Saturday night in Athens, marking the Crimson Tide’s first visit to Sanford Stadium since 2015 and a test for both teams’ SEC title hopes.

With Georgia’s 33-game home stadium win streak on the line and new crowd-lighting features planned, the stage is set for another classic in a series that’s delivered some of college football’s most exciting moments.

The Bulldogs look to move past a stretch of nine losses in 10 meetings against Alabama, with UGA favored by a field goal.

Since the 2015 matchup in Athens, the two teams have played each other twice in Tuscaloosa, four times in Atlanta, and once in Indianapolis.
