Article Icon 1Court Lets Willis’ Disqualification Stand

The Georgia Supreme Court declined Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ attempt to remain on the Trump election case.

The 4–3 decision left in place a lower court’s disqualification of Willis over the appearance of impropriety tied to her past relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade.

The future of the case remains uncertain. With Willis out, the case now heads to the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia, which must appoint a new prosecutor.

Trump hailed the decision, saying, “What Fani Willis did to innocent people, patriots that love our country, what she did to them by indicting them and destroying them, she should be put in jail.”

Willis reacted to the decision by saying, “I hope that whoever is assigned to handle the case will have the courage to do what the evidence and the law demand.”

Multiple employees across Georgia have been fired or placed on leave after sharing social media posts that appeared to celebrate the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Cobb County School District suspended several teachers and reported them to the state licensing board, urging disciplinary action. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta fired an employee.

Richard T. Griffiths, president of the Georgia First Amendment Foundation, said employers have the right to act when workers’ comments are seen as unprofessional or disruptive.

Meanwhile, hundreds gathered in Albany on Monday for a prayer vigil honoring Kirk, mirroring similar events held in cities across the country.
