Amazon Eyes Rural Data Hub

Amazon Web Services bought nearly 1,000 acres off I-75 in Barnesville for $270 million as a possible site for a data center.

The rural community sees potential tax and job benefits while recognizing the proposed project’s impacts on water, roads, and emergency services.

Amazon representatives plan a series of meetings to discuss the project, part of the company’s planned $11 billion tech investment in Georgia.

  Officer Cleared in Tasing Death

A Fulton County grand jury declined to indict former Atlanta police officer Kiran Kimbrough in the 2023 taser death of 62-year-old church deacon Johnny Hollman Sr.

Jurors found insufficient evidence of involuntary manslaughter or other charges.

Hollman’s death followed a struggle after he refused to sign a citation and repeatedly asked to speak with a supervisor. 

The city fired Kimbrough and settled with Hollman’s family for $3.8 million.

Travel + Leisure named its 10 best places to live in Georgia, highlighting a mix of city neighborhoods, suburbs, and scenic small towns.
