Gov. Brian Kemp called the violence “horrific,” urging prayers for the victims and support for law enforcement.

U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock and state House leaders denounced political extremism.

At least eight people were arrested and tear gas was deployed in DeKalb County on Saturday after protesters marched toward Interstate 285 in a possible effort to block the roadway.

Thousands of others rallied peacefully across the state as part of the national No Kings demonstrations in opposition to President Trump’s policies.

Demonstrations took place in at least 15 cities, including Atlanta, Marietta, and McDonough.
