1,100+ Atlanta Flights Delayed

More than 1,100 flights at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport were delayed Sunday following an unspecified runway equipment problem in the morning and storms later in the day.

FlightAware reported 1,160 flight delays and 10 cancellations as of 9:45 p.m. at the world’s busiest airport.

In the morning, the runway equipment problem led to a temporary ground stop. Starting in the afternoon, Delta reported more flight delays, citing thunderstorms and lingering impacts from the runway problem.

  Roadside Pet Sales Banned

Gov. Brian Kemp signed House Bill 331 into law, banning the outdoor sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits in public spaces across the state, including parking lots, sidewalks, and flea markets.

The bill aims to crack down on unlicensed breeders and reduce the number of unvaccinated, sick, or unwanted animals ending up in shelters.

Advocates say it protects both consumers and pets, slowing down exploitative practices linked to puppy mills and reinforcing proper breeding standards.

Faculty Protest, School Defends Program Cuts

Kennesaw State University professors joined students in opposing the school’s decision to eliminate three majors: philosophy, technical communications, and Black Studies.

The school said the decision was based on low interest in the programs, with technical communications averaging about 8 graduates per year and the others 6 graduates per year.

Select courses in those fields of study will continue to be offered, and students currently enrolled in those majors will be eligible to get their degrees over the next two years.

Faculty leaders criticized the school’s actions as undemocratic and damaging to academic integrity, while NAACP leaders condemned the elimination of the Black Studies major.
